Tebogo Galane scored a hat-trick as University Sports South Africa (USSA) beat North West 3-1 on the opening day of the SAB Under-21 National Championship at Giant Stadium in Shoshanguve on Monday.
Galane scored two goals in the first-half before completing his treble in the second to hand USSA a convincing win over the 2014 runners-up, who finished the game with 10-men.
With the 2014 SAB U21 national championship top scorer Dylan O'Brien starting on the bench, USSA look early contenders to win this year's tournament.
Galane opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes before putting USSA 2-0 up two minutes before the break.
The USSA striker completed his hat-trick after the interval, finishing off a superb run by Richard Moremi.
North West pulled a goal back through Chapman Gaborone, but after Mosekiemang Kgosiemang received his marching orders soon after, the North West effectively surrendered any chance of a possible comeback.
