2014 SAB Under-21 National Championship top scorer Dylan O'Brien described at the culmination of the tournament that winning the golden boot and helping the Free State province to the title is the highlight of his career thus far.

O'Brien, who was schooled in Durban netted six times as the Free State claimed their second title in the past five years.

Free State beat the hosts North West 4-2 in an entertaining final played at the North West University Sports Grounds in Mafikeng on Sunday.

O'Brien said shortly after the final whistle: "It feels amazing, I cant describe it. I came here and didn't have much expectation and look at us now, we have won it.

"What a performance from the boys, it is amazing.

Strike partner Mbuyiselo Thethani stole the limelight in the final as he netted a hat-trick and O'Brien admitted that he looks up to 'Neymar' despite being older than the diminutive marksman.

"I really look up to him even though he is younger then me. He really performed very well. He won us the game practically," a buoyant O'Brien added.

O'Brien described before the tournament had kicked off on July 13 that ending the 2012 Grey Football tournament as top scorer was the highlight of his career, but admits his recent achievement tops that effort.

"Six goals! It feels great, I have my team to thank for that, they helped me a lot. It is such a confidence booster," O'Brien added.

"This is the highlight of my career definitely, when I was top scorer at the Grey football festival we failed to win the tournament, but we have won this, this was amazing.

O'Brien also reserved some praise for head coach Litre Mokitlane, who's tactics were spot on throughout the knockout stages of the tournament.

"He was outstanding, his tactics were spot on and the way he inspired us the night before the game was so encouraging. He really studied all the teams we played and helped is win," the striker concluded.

There will be no rest for the clinical striker who will now represent Kovsies in this years edition of the Varsity Cup which kicks of on Monday, July 21.
