KwaZulu-Natal claimed third spot at the 2014 SAB Under-21 National Championships when they defeated Western Cape 4-1 at Montshiwa Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Kwanele Hlongwane scored a brace and Sphamandla Mazubane and Senzo Sithebe were also on target for KZN, while Curvin Williams scored the only goal for Western Cape from the penalty spot.
After a quiet half-an-hour it was KZN who opened the scoring in the 32nd minute as Mazubane beat the goalkeeper with a sweet right-footed volley to the top corner.
Hlongwane doubled the lead four minutes later, driving forward from the middle of the park before driving a low shot into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
Western Cape were then awarded a penalty in the 40th minute and Williams stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way.
KZN took the game away from the defending champions in the second half as Hlongwane grabbed his brace in the 50th minute, before Sithebe put the result beyond doubt in the 67th minute.
