The North West province were comfortable 4-1 winners over KwaZulu-Natal on day two of the Under-21 National Championship at Giant Stadium in Shoshanguve on Tuesday morning.

For the 2014 runners-up the result was the perfect response to their opening day defeat. KZN on the other hand are left with a lot to do following their second successive loss.

KZN should've opened their account for the tournament in the 38th minute, but Siphesihle Ndlovu failed to find the back of the net from close range after being put through on goal.

Castle Lager SuperStar Tshepo Mathobela made the KZN striker pay three minutes later, the North West right-back with a spectacular goal from way out. A defensive clearance fell to the fullback who controlled before hitting an unstoppable half-volley into the top corner, 1-0.

Ndlovu made up for his first-half miss on the hour mark, converting at the second time of asking following a foul in the area by Katlego Kadi.

Orabile Morule restored North West lead in the 71st minute with a crisp strike before Nkosinathi Mahlangu doubled their advantage 13 minutes later.

Second-half substitute Gaboihe Keikagetse put the result beyond any doubt with one minute of regulation time remaining, rounding off a swift move to secure an emphatic win for the North West.

Both teams will be in Group B action on Tuesday afternoon with the North West facing Limpopo and KZN taking on the Eastern Cape.
